Danse Festival

Every autumn, Cannes becomes one of the international capitals of choreographic creation with the Cannes – Côte d’Azur Dance Festival. The 2026 edition promises an exceptional programme bringing together 25 companies from 11 countries, with a particular focus on the Australian dance scene.

More than just a festival, this event celebrates the diversity of bodies, cultures and imaginations through all forms of dance: contemporary, neoclassical, experimental, choral and performance-based.

Through this fascinating interplay between dance and rhythm, executed with pinpoint precision, the Australian choreographer Stephanie Lake offers a breath of optimism, a hymn to joy and brotherhood.

CCN Malandain Ballet Biarritz ‘Midi-Minuit’

Thierry Malandain, a leading figure in French dance, draws inspiration for his choreography from a deep attachment to the classical repertoire. Set to the music of Francis Poulenc, Maurice Ravel and Camille Saint-Saëns, this evening’s performance celebrates an intimate encounter between dance and music.

Emanuel Gat Dance ‘Five Days in the Sun’

When Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 meets Emanuel Gat’s luminous movement: an odyssey in five acts at the heart of human emotions. This choreographic journey celebrates transformation and resilience, offering a moment of grace and catharsis of rare elegance.

From 21 November to 6 December 2026, the stages of Cannes and the Côte d’Azur will host established artists, emerging young talent and a host of original productions.

Music will take centre stage at this year’s festival: iconic symphonic works, contemporary sound compositions, live percussion, vocals, breath sounds and jazz influences will interact with the choreography to create unique sensory experiences.

The festival will also give prominence to:

• choral works and large ensembles,

• on the female perspectives in contemporary art,

• for young audiences and the promotion of the arts,

• to encounters and exchanges between artists and audience members.

Dance on screen, masterclasses and participatory events

At the Cineum Cannes, the MOV’IN Cannes dance film competition, co-directed by Éric Oberdorff, will offer an innovative perspective on dance on film.

The festival will also continue through:

• film screenings,

• masterclasses,

• round-table discussions,

• and a Giga Barre open every Sunday near the Croisette, allowing the public to practise and share the experience of dance.
